I find wav files are more versatile to work with, on ethier end.......but I'm 86'd, a dumb ass, f***ing myself, and a 801 violator, so I guess it's time to duck...quack, quack, quack....learned that from my doctor.

hey deadbuck, glad you got the 4/14 show ... !
as for converting from flac, here are a few suggestions:
-if you just want to listen to the files from off your computer, many players will play flac files without you having to convert them; however, you probably don't want to keep the flac files on your computer as they take up drive space, not as much as .wav, but still, space freed up is always good; or you can move the flac files to an external, and play them off that through winamp or whatever player you have a preference for and which plays flac files
-if you're looking to burn the files to CD, convert to .wav, unless you have burn software, such as Nero, that will burn flac right to CD and do the conversion for you in the process
-if you want to listen to the files on a mobile device such as an mp3 player, ipod sorta thing, it's a longer process, but convert the files to .wav, and then from .wav into .mp3, at whatever bitrate you feel is high enough quality for you; i generally convert into 256kbps, but another rate might suit you fine; the higher the bitrate of course, the larger the .mp3 file; of course it may be possible to convert right from flac directly to .mp3, but i haven't tried it, and so can't advise you as to the process, whatnot
-let me know if you have any questions, or run into any snags
-cheers

hey deadbuck wave file are better quality but mp3 takes up less space.if your putting the music ipod or similar product go with mp3,since you can load more music.if you play cd's stick with the waves.another option is dvd-audio which you can burn on to a dvd.dvd-audio can hold two full grateful dead concerts without any breaks.so no more 3 cd's for a show anymore.kenwood makes dvd players for car audio now.so you can cruise around with two full shows on one disc.they are working on a dvd changer for cars also.hope this helped.remember to burn at once to avoid gaps between songs.

.wav is better quality wise, but I doubt that anyone with an untrained ear could even spot a difference. I keep mine in .wav format, just because it's better to trade that way, but I doubt most people can tell a difference.

If you are bothering with the lengthy dl time of flac, then keep it wav--especially if you trade.

Otherwise, download in mp3 from speedingarrow.

Me--I can't tell the diff. But I'm Old and in the Way.
